Hi Ed

With both Atletico Madrid and Barcelona exiting the Champions League at the group stages, are either club looking to sell players in January, and which players might the clubs be trying to sell?

The_Fez

{Ed002's Note - De Jong.}

Thanks Ed!

Hi Ed,

You think Man United are going to renew their interest in De Jong or do they have other targets in mind now?

Thanks!

{Ed002's Note - He is still not keen on leaving Barcelona but clubs will see him as an alternate to Jude Bellingham. Nothing will happen in January.}

Hi Ed

It seems that Atletico Madrid might have some financial difficulties which could change their transfer plans.
Earlier it had seemed that Cavani could end up playing in the Wanda Metropolitano stadium next season, is this still a possible transfer, or might he head elsewhere?

The_Fez

{Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed, Atletico have money problems. The cost of Cavani is seen by them as huge so unless the cost reduces he will head elsewhere.}

Hello Eds

Is anyone interested in signing Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer, could he end up moving?

The_Fez

{Ed002's Note - Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (CM/AM) Lazio had no intention of selling unless the player pushed for a move, but the reality of having 10 players out of contract in the summer means they are facing the reality of selling Milinkovic-Savic to help fund the changes they wish to make and to free up wages. It would take a huge offer of perhaps €70M to complete a sale. At that price the interested parties would want to include players in any deal if possible. Inter are effectively priced out of any move with other transfers they are making. Real Madrid's interest has moved on but circumstances are rapidly changing in Madrid and they could look again. PSG may make an offer after failing to sign midfield targets in recent windows. Manchester United remain very keen - and he is the preferred choice by some at the club but not all. Spurs may show an interest but a move is seen as very unlikely - the same with Juventus and Newcastle. Arsenal have declared an interest but cannot off Champions League which makes it more difficult to persuade the player.}

Thanks Ed!

Hi Ed,

Would you be able to expand on what you mean by ‘circumstances are rapidly changing’ in Madrid?

Cheers for your work mate!

{Ed002's Note - There will be a significant appointment fairly soon.}

Hi Ed

Do you know where Ivan Perisic might end up if he leaves Inter this summer?

The_Fez

{Ed002's Note - Ivan Perisic (LW/LWB) has a number of options but will either sign a new contract or perhaps take the advice of Conte and convert to a wing back to replace Reguilon at Spurs.}

Inter have had a brilliant season winning their first Scudetto in over a decade.
Would the eds be able to give any insight into the situation and any potential ins and outs?

The_Fez

{Ed002's Note - They have significant financial issues which means they need significant sales before they can then sell to buy.}

Hi Ed

Would you be able to give an update on possible ins and outs at Napoli this summer please?

The_Fez

{Ed002's Note - Horribly out of date, but looked at:
Sead Kolasinac (LB)
Emerson Palmeiri (LWB)
Kostas Tsimikas (LB) another option for Leicester if Chilwell were to depart. Yuto Nagatomo is due to be replaced in the summer so Galatasaray have looked. Third pick for Napoli as a Faouzi Ghoulam replacement. Fenerbahce are short a LB and have Hasan Ali Kaldirim out of contract in the summer. Locomotiv Moscow have Maciej Rybus heading for the door this summer and have seemingly given up hope on Mikhail Lysov and have been in contact with Olympiacos over a deal for the summer. Sheffield United and Nice have looked and declared an interest.
Jan Vertonghen (CB) wanted in the summer as a Free Agent
Gian Marco Ferrari (CB) wanted as cover.
Samuel Umtiti (CB) being offered for cash or trade as a KK replacement
Robin Koch (CB) There is plenty of interest in RK from the Premier League as he is seen as a solid and reliable player who is easy to integrate as a replacement for aging and departing players. Leicester have a depleted and aging central defence with Morgan and Evens heading toward the end of their careers at the highest level. They have an option on Ryan Bennett but ideally want to add Kock to play alongside Soyuncu. Spurs have issues in central defence with the two senior players needing replacing so adding at least one CB to what is now a pretty poor bunch makes sense. They will see RK as a good solution. Napoli are prepared to let Kalidou Koulibaly leave at the right price and see RK as one potential replacement. Leeds are looking to RK as an option if they cannot persuade Ben White to sign a permanent deal. West Ham interest looks like it will only come to the fore if Issa Diop leaves, and that seems unlikely unless West Ham are relegated - when a whole new paradigm kicks in. Benfica want to keep hold of Ruben Dias but will cash in at the right price – which is when they will look to RK as a replacement. Freiberg want to extend his contract.
Gabriel Magalhaes (CB) Lille didn't want to sell in January although Arsenal pushed - the player has signed a new contract, but Arsenal could look to him in again the summer if they do not sign Mari - else they are overrun with CBs. Lazio have made their interest known as the seek a replacement for Luiz Felipe (CB) but he is not their first choice - although their first choice may well be heading elsewhere. Napoli know that they may lose Kalidou Koulibaly (CB) in the summer and have an interest in the player. Southampton and Everton have both sent scouts to watch the player with Everton notifying Lille that they are very interested in taking the player in the summer – but there has been no “done deal” as many of the Everton fans think. Chelsea and Spurs have both looked and Chelsea fans have, like the Everton fans, convinced themselves a deal has already been done and that has led to abuse on the site. In reality, he is not be top of the list of replacements if one of the existing CBs leave (which is actually possible) although Chelsea have accepted that their two preferred choices are very probably not achievable. Spurs have a bigger problem in that they have an aging defensive squad supplemented by players who are only perhaps borderline good enough. Spurs have other options they are looking at but could prioritise Magalhaes. Prior interest of PSG was thought to have gone but with their financial issues limiting their ability to spend without sales - but it may just be back. Real MAdrid have half a dozen CBs ahead of Gabriel Magahaes but they are all too expensive so he becomes an option.
Boubakary Soumare (DM/CM) - Soumare is being touted around the clubs that have money to spend and several have spoken with Lille but want the €60M asking price reduced. His ""agent"" (and I use the term loosely) says the player has no interest in joining Spurs or Arsenal but his client is the ideal replacement for Pogba or Kante and is attracted by the money available to players in England. Valencia, Real Madrid and Napoli are others who have been looking at him on a regular basis - but price is an issue. Until the summer Manchester City had an interest since he was at PSG and it was suggested he could fill the role of Yaya Toure well. Monaco saw him as a Bakayoko replacement but have stepped back. Watford pressed Lille in the summer but they would not sell. Brands wanted him at Everton but was forced down the Gbamin route by an advisor. Liverpool were also approached and have discussed the price with his agent. Newcastle and Leicester - and Newcastle were close to a deal in January and may push before the summer to reach an agreement with Lille.
Stanislav Lobotka (DM)
Diego Demme (DM)
Pablo Fornals (CM) Napoli is keen.
Matteo Pessina (CM) Atalanta have Pessina on a two year loan at Verona at the moment and they have an option to buy the player at the end of the season at a fixed fee and there would be a fixed fee buy back option for Atalanta as part of the sale. Inter have convinced themselves that the player would be a great addition but know that it would mean that they would need to compensate noth clubs for next season's loan and agree a fee for Atalanta to sell. The representative of the player is close to Inter and may well be able to negotiate the inclusion of Inter players in the transaction. The player has also attracted the interest of Milan who had him on the books for a couple of years, Fiorentina and Napoli - but Napoli have difficulties right now and that may put the player off.
Matias Vecino (CM) available - can be used in a trade
Piotr Zielinski (CM) - new deal at Napoli
Franck Kessie (CM) could end up in the other changing room or move to England with interest from Newcastle, Wolves and Arsenal having watched the player. Discussions with Napoli over a part exchange have also taken place.
Ivan Rakitic (CM) will be offered as part of a deal for Ruiz by Barcelona.
Emanuel Vignato (AM/LM/RM) Chievo youngster who is attracting attention from Chelsea, Bayern Munich and a several Italian sides including Milan, Napoli, Torino and Inter.
Jeremie Boga (LW) Napoli want Boga as a replacement for Insigne who has yet to sign a new contract and wanted him in January to bed him in - that was scuppered by Sassuolo who want to keep him for at least one more year and are asking Chelsea to assist by exchanging their option to buy the player back for a fixed percentage of their fee when they eventually do sell him. Napoli have had a €20M offer rejected but will return in the summer. Milan, Roma, Juventus, Brighton and Inter have also enquired about his availability. Chelsea will likely be open to trading the option for a sell on fee which will see Milan push for him.
Dries Martens (S) - New contract offer has been made.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyangadingdong (S/LW) wants a new start elsewhere but the club have spoken to him and he says he will consider a new contract - but it is unlikely agreement will be reached over terms. PSG offer him a way out as a Cavani replacement. Napoli retain an interest in Aubameyangadingdong as preferred options to replace Mertens are looking unlikely - but first they will try and get Mertens to sign a new contract.
Erling Haaland (S) - talks going on but nothing will happen because of money and a lack of direction
Victor Osimhen (S/F) One particular Liverpool scout is pressing for the club to sign him. Barcelona have also shown an interest but they have a financial issue to solve first - he only joined in the summer and Lille will resist any January bids - and it is hard to see why the player would consider a career on the bench. Spurs and Manchester United have looked at him and spoken with his agent. A senior Chelsea scout has also been watching the player who could be seen as an option to their primary striker target - but their need is for January rather than the summer. There was serious interest from Arsenal when he was much younger but he opted for Wolfsburg. Wolves, Real Madrid, Valencia and Napoli (as a Arkadiusz Milik replacement) also have a declared interest.
Luca Jovic (S) being offered to Napoli as part of the deal for Ruiz but has a broken heel to recover from first. Inter and Milan will likely fight it out and offer Real Madrid some complicated deal. Napoli remain an option with a trade plotted.
"Faouzi Ghoulam (LB) Loan to buy to Marseille
Kalidou Koulibaly (CB) may be open to a high offer in the summer that will be circa €100M minimum.
Fabian Ruiz (CM/DM/AM) is seen by Real Madrid as a replacement for Kroos and/or Modric but is not first choice - but they could still turn to him and are keeping their interest known to Napoli - and crucially Real Madrid have a player Napoli want who could be part of a trade. There have been discussions with his agent with Manchester City who see him as one of several options to the long-term replacement of Fernandinho. There have also been discussions with Bayern Munich but they are ideally after a DM and AM and although Ruiz often plays an DM role his value is as a CM player. Napoli have also met and spoken with Barcelona seen as a replacement for Arturo Vidal and/or Ivan Rakitic as they try and rebuild - but the revised €60M asking price is still an issue for them. I expect Bayern Munich to step back andReal Madrid to move for their first option. Barcelona will need to be creative to make a deal - that may not suit Napoli. Manchester City might bite. I am not aware of any approach to his agent or Napoli by Liverpool. Allan (CM) Napolii are keen to cash in on Allan.
Adam Ounas (RW) on loan at Nice but Everton have been watching - Nice has an option to buy but they will likely not take it up.
Jose Callejon (RW)
Lorenzo Insigne (LW)
Arkadiusz Milik (S) wanted by Milan who have offered Kessie in exchange. Juventus and Spurs have both enquired. Napoli are looking toward keeping both Arkadiusz Milik and Dries Mertens and shifting the issue forward a year by which time internal problems may have gone but right now they are pondering a very good option in Osihem being offered as a Milik replacement. Do not discount Atletico Madrid. "
