Hi Ed, hope you are well?

Just wondering if there is any interest in Djene Dakonam? Getafe are doing very well in La Liga this season but from what I've seen he would not be out of place in even better sides.

Thanks.

Rjmanutd

{Ed002's Note - Djene Dakonam (CB) Over the past year Arsenal and Leicester have watched DD with a view to an offer - but Leicester would only be keen if the were to lose Caglar Soyuncu. With Jonny Evans aging they will likely look to see how Benkovic performs on hi return. Arsenal opted for Mari, so can be discounted. Spurs though he might be a viable option to replace Jan Vertonghen but potential cost and age will make them look elsewhere. Monaco had an offer rejected in January and their stance on the entire team has shifted and they will be most unlikely to return. Other sides who have sent scouts to watch him and other Getafe players have not followed up on any interest. With many clubs having financial issues they will be careful with purchases and often be looking at younger players where they can sustain a return on investment.}

Ed002, if you're not too busy is there any chance of an update on the future of Arda Turan? A couple of months ago you mentioned he was looking likely to leave Atletico.

Rjmanutd

{Ed002's Note - Ahmet Bulut continues to whip things up, but this time he may be correct that Arda Turan will be available to move in the summer - however it will take a bid of around €40M for any sort of deal to happen - plus very significant wages and plus Champions League football. Atletico Madrid have twice rejected offers from Schalke but the only clubs that have shown any real interest at this time are Milan and Galatasaray, and the cost would be an issue. Don't rule out interest from Bayern Munich or Manchester United at some point. Bulut has spoken with a number of sides about the player - and there remains a slim chance that Arsenal could turn to Arda. The player has said that he would like to stay in Madrid, but Atletico may look to sell him if they can keep Koke and Griezmann.}

Hi Ed, hope you are well?

Is any club looking at Kvicha Kvartaskhelia? He has been phenomenal all season for Napoli and looks like he'd get in any side at the moment.

Thanks as always.

Rjmanutd

{Ed002's Note - Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (LW) In late 2021 Torino, Borussia Dortmund and Lokomotiv Moscow were speaking with Rubin Kazan who said they were not willing to sell at that time. Previously the player had been watched by Bayern Munich and his agent had been hawking him around the Premier League clubs including Everton with, according to him, Leeds showing some interest. CA had been open to the idea of replacing Bolasie and Bernard with him but it was clear something was going on in the background. Remarkably he was sold to Georgian side Dinamo Batumi for a small amount of money but well beyond their means in March 2022. For 3 months Napoli and Juventus discussed a deal with his agent and on July 1, 2022 he moved to Napoli, giving a small profit to Dinamo Batumi. A move to Spain with Real Sociedad was ruled out. Paratici had originally identified him for Juventus and it is was surprise Spurs did not follow up, but that may well have changed. Roma waited too long to be a viable option. The transfers are potentially going to be looked at by UEFA. Don't rule out Real Madrid or Manchester City looking at taking the player who has also attracted scouts from Liverpool and Juventus. Chelsea interest has gone. Newcastle have a declared interest but a move seems unlikely. Napoli have no intention of selling and will offer a new contract.}

Hi Ed, hope you are well.

I've had a search and have read through updates you gave in March and May about Paulo Dybala. You'd advised he wanted to move to PSG or Real but neither was likely. It looked likely he was going to Inter earlier in the summer but they've now signed Lukaku and a couple of other sides mentioned have signed others such as City and Liverpool.

Have there been any updates in the interest in Dybala? Conscious Manchester United have been linked but can't see that even being viable unless Ronaldo does go.

Rjmanutd

{Ed002's Note - Paulo Dybala (F/AM) - selling was seen a way to raise the money to buy Verratti or Milinkovic-Savic last summer but he is out of contract at the end of the season and his demands for a new one are very significant - which delayed any agreement. Juventus will try once more but Dybala will be available as a Free Agent in the summer if a new contract is not agreed. Liverpool looked likely to make a proposal although concerns over both the wage and signing on costs - which are significant. For me, a very good player but getting older and very expensive and I would have thought Liverpool may look toward the future although at 28, Dybala would make a very good replacement for Firmino if he were to depart. Manchester City may also offer an option and Manchester United perhaps a wildcard option although interest has waned. Wildcard option at Borussia Dortmund. Atletico could look to him as a Joao Felix replacement if they were to lose him - but that is less likely this summer. Spurs with Paratici and Conte offer a very viable option but I would think that there will be better options available. Arsenal made an enquiry with his agent but were rebuffed. Those representing the player have spoken to many leading clubs in Europe but it seems prior interest of PSG has waned. Inter and Roma are the only Italian sides who are interested and Italian tax laws make them an attractive option. The player wants to move to Real Madrid or PSG, but that seems unlikely as neither are interested in him - which opens the door to a move to Inter or Roma if they are willing to match his significant financial demands. Offers and approaches from other sides have already been rejected by the player. Inter will probably offer the best solution.}

Hi Ed,

Hope you are well wherever you are in the world just now?

Is there any interest in Rodrigo Bentancur? I'm holding out the most likely very very slim hope he is offered to United as part of a Pogba deal.

Thanks.

Rjmanutd

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware right now.}

Hi Ed, hope you are well. I was wondering if you have any info on Nicolo Barella?

He's been brilliant in Serie A this season and has broken into the Italy squad. I would imagine Cagliari will look for a high fee for him but he looks like a player who will soon be considered among the best midfielders in the world.

Do you see anything happening in January or more likely next summer? I'd imagine Juve will be interested as they usually are in the best Italian players.

Thanks in advance.

Rjmanutd

{Ed002's Note - Nicolo Barella has been of interest to a number of sides including Napoli, Liverpool, Spurs, Inter, Roma, Lyon, Milan and Juventus. He is being priced at the very top end of his market value, and during discussions between his representative and another English side in the summer Barella's representative made it clear that he wants to be a starter and ideally wants to stay in Italy - but for the right deal would leave Italy if given assurances about his International future. Both Spurs and Liverpool continue to watch him - although Liverpool do not currently have space for him. Monchi has preferred targets and will only turn to him if he fails with others for Roma. He is also a fall back position for Milan, and probably Napoli. My expectation is that he will move to the head of the list of targets for Inter and Juvents, who consider him over priced, will likely fight Inter for his signature as they start to search for younger players who are headed for a good future. Spurs might just try and get a deal done but he will be seen as high risk.}

Thanks for the reply ed. What are your thoughts on him as a player? Do you think he will go on to be one of the best around?

{Ed002's Note - All I can say is he is very well thought of and he is being seen as a potential national captain.}

Ed is there any interest in Jorginho of Napoli? He's been exceptional whenever I've seen him over the past couple of seasons. To me he looks ideal for a Barcelona or Man City type team as his passing ability is brilliant.

Rjmanutd

{Ed002's Note - There has been sustained interest by no action from Arsenal

Ed do you believe the most likely scenario is Messi stays with the threat he leaves for free at the end of the season, presdential elections at Barcelona are due in February or March I think? Bartomeu loses the election and Messi then signs a new contract for another year or two before heading to the MLS / Newell's / Boca?

Rjmanutd

{Ed002's Note - It will simply revert to the original plan.}

Yeah he would have been a class above everyone at the time. It's ridiculous to think he still underachieved due to his injuries. If he hadn't done his knee when he moved to Inter he'd probably be seen as clearly the best player ever rather than being remembered as just one of the best ever. His hat trick at OT for Real Madrid is one of the best performances I've ever seen from an opposition player.

Rjmanutd

{Ed001's Note - he was one of those players you went along to watch play, no matter what team he played for or who they were against.}

Ed do you know if he ever came close to moving to the PL? Often wonder how players like him, Rivaldo, Zidane etc would have fared in the PL?

Rjmanutd

{Ed001's Note - yes he did, when he was at PSV he had a lot of offers. I am not sure about the other two but Ronaldo would have tore the Prem to pieces.}

Off the back of this ed, are Juve still looking to add another forward? I personally thought they would have went for Lacazette by now. He'd be a great signing for them and it looks like Zaza and Mandzukic could go.

Thanks

Rjmanutd

{Ed002's Note - Yes, Juventus are looking to add a forward, perhaps two.}
